Clear Correct Braces in Chicago,IL

Malocclusion is a common oral issue among individuals of all age groups. Most often, the cause of malocclusion is heredity. Other causes include missing teeth, abnormal growth of the jawbone, external trauma, untimely falling off of milk teeth, etc. Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry dedicated to the treatment of malocclusion.
Some of the widely used orthodontic appliances are metal braces, clear braces, Damon braces, ClearCorrect, oral retainers, etc. Among these, ClearCorrect is one of the most technologically advanced and aesthetically pleasing ones. It is preferred by patients who wish to retain their attractive smile even during orthodontic treatment.

What is ClearCorrect?

ClearCorrect is a highly advanced orthodontic aligner that is made from clear plastic. It is custom-fabricated based on the contour of the teeth and type of malocclusion of a patient. Since it is made from transparent plastic material, it is virtually invisible. Whenever you smile or talk while wearing the aligner, the chances of someone noticing them are very less. However, this doesn’t compromise the effectiveness of the aligner.

What are the advantages of ClearCorrect?

  • The aesthetics of one’s smile will not be affected during the treatment period. You can wear the aligner and still interact with people with confidence.
  • ClearCorrect is removable. Whenever you have to eat food, have a drink, or brush your teeth, you can easily take off the aligner and put it back on later.
  • ClearCorrect goes easy on the soft tissues of the mouth as it is made from plastic. It is metal-free, which makes it free from sharp brackets or edges, as in the case of metal braces. The chances of getting injured are next to none.
  • Patients can get a clear idea of how their teeth will look post the treatment. The technology backing ClearCorrect is highly advanced, which is how the teeth can be easily scanned and aligned digitally. Fabricating the aligners can be done with ease using the data from the scans.
  • Patients need not visit the dentist too often for follow-up consultations. A visit once every two weeks would suffice.

Treatment procedure

The treatment procedure would begin with the dentist scanning the teeth using a hand-held device. The data obtained from it would be transferred to a computer and relayed on a screen. The teeth from both the jaws would be aligned digitally, which allows the dentist to get an unlimited number of views. It will be used to fabricate the aligners for various stages of the treatment.
Once they are made available, the dentist will take you through the usage of the aligners. They will have to wear it throughout the day. But, you can only take them off when you have to eat, drink, or brush the teeth. Just make sure you’ve cleaned your teeth thoroughly before putting the aligners back on. They will have to be worn during sleep, as well. Further, a new set of aligners will be given once every two weeks to advance to the next stage of treatment. Based on the severity of malocclusion, the treatment period would span between 6 months to a couple of years.
